Form 80 - Tertiary Education Details
In Australia “Tertiary Education” refers to continuing studies after a student Higher School Certificate. It also refers to any education a student receives after final compulsory schooling, which occurs at the age of 17 within Australia.
Basically, the education after 12th grade is considered Tertiary, which includes universities as well as trade schools and colleges.
On Form 80, there is no need to include information about your 10th or 12th-grade details.
Include this education gained after 12th:
- College/vocational schools
- University (Bachelor / Masters / Doctorate)
- Research/thesis/PHD
- Specialist training
- Skill/trade qualifications

You should write about your gap in employment as ‘Unemployment’ in part T (Additional information).

Form 1221 for Australia Visa

The information in form 1221 is 99% same as you would have filled in Form 80.
This form may or may not be requested in your 189 skillselect invitation. Hence, fill it only if requested by the Case Officer (CO).
Some people upload it without even being asked by CO, just to make sure no time is lost between CO requesting it and then you upload and CO takes time to verify.
It is your choice.
As per the official Australian guidance here, Form 80 is not mandatory either if you are applying from outside Australia.
But, as a matter of saving time, you should be ready with it if CO asks for it.
