How can i know if i'm gonna receive an i797A or i797B before it arrives?

Hi guys,

I just received an email forwarded from my attorney stating my H1b extension got approved. We filed COS but I heard in some cases people still receive i797B. The [Consulate Notified] is followed by a blank. Does that mean I will receive i797A and my COS is approved? Thank you!

I am not sure whats a COS but if the consulate notified is blank and there I94 number then its gonna be i797A

If you fall our of status then chances are you may receive I-797B unless you file NPT to cover the gap, otherwise you should receive I-797A with I-94 attached.
