Can I work from home in US while on India payroll for 3-4 months? My wife’s L1 VISA has been approved. My L2 EAD expired in July and is under process; I am off US payroll since the VISA / EAD expiry and my employer is willing to move me to it’s India payroll temporarily till the US VISA/EAD is approved.

You cannot legally work (irrespective of the payment in other country) as long as you are physically present in the USA without the approved L2 EAD.
