Can H4 receive money in US bank account from India

I’m on H4 visa, there is some amount that i need to get from India, a direct deposit… I don’t have an SSN, I only have ITIN?

H4 can get money transferred from India to his/her US account.

The assumption is that you would have already paid Income tax on that amount in India and it is white money.

Hi @Anil_Gupta - Can an H1B get money from India? what is the limit per transfer that an H1B can get? It is white money, so do we need to show in tax return here in US?

If the money is white in India, then you can get it in US without paying taxes. You can just do a bank transfer.

If the money is in your bank account in India, then there is no need to show it on US tax return.

Thanks Anil. So its like my parents had saved/FD some money for me and now want to transfer it to me here in US.

I think you can get the money from your parents with no issues in US.

I would suggest to get a second opinion from a CPA.
