POA Attestation NYC Embassy by Mail

#1

Hi There,

I have a 2 Page POA. The last (2nd page) has 2 witness signatures and my photo. This is notarized. But the first page that has main POA clause contents and doesn’t have any notary.
Planning to send by mail.
Does the NYC Indian embassy attest only 2nd page?, if yes is that a valid POA to be sent to India ?

Thanks in advance. Appreciate an early reply.

NY indian embassy will attest the second page.

Yes, it is a valid POA.

But, I recommend signing each page separately to make sure any of that page cannot be replaced by anyone later.

It is your choice if you want to get signatures on each page or just the last page.
Both are valid as per Indian law.

Thanks Much for a such a quick reply.

Do I need to sign on first page and get it notarized ?

As I said, its your choice to sign on first page and get it notarized.

If I sign and notarize first page, will the NY embassy attest on first page as well since it’s notarized ?

Yes, they will attest as many pages as you request.

Thanks Mr Anil. So I will have to send extra fees per page? First Page --> $22 +$20 for each additional page ?

The last time (in 2014) I checked with NY embassy, they used to charge fees per document and not per page.

But, other Indian embassies charge per page.
So, I suggest to call NY embassy and confirm before sending fees.
